First off, why would you want to workout more??
For most people, the thought usually goes like this…
“If I workout more, I’ll lose more weight.”
This isn’t necessarily true.
Again, you don’t get stronger when you workout. You break down muscle tissue.
Working out too much can cause increased inflammation and cortisol levels that will work against your weight loss goals.
That’s why I recommend doing training 3-4x per week when you’re getting started.
Your body NEEDS to recover in order to function properly.
When you create a healthy environment in your body, you are setting yourself up for the best chance at losing weight and keeping it off.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to increase your weight loss!
In order to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit. **That doesn’t mean just eating less!**
One of my favorite ways to increase how many calories I burn is by doing something old-fashioned.
Go for a walk.
Why walking? Because it’s low impact. I consider it an ‘active rest’.
You increase your blood flow, which helps with recovery from your workouts, without breaking down more muscle tissue or increasing inflammation.
On top of that, not only do you burn some extra calories, but it’s a great way to de-stress.
So my challenge to you is to add a walk into your routine this week. It doesn’t have to be long, even 10-15 minutes is great!
You need to be intentional about it though. Being on your feet at work all day doesn’t count here.
Good luck and have an awesome week!
