Shantih Coro's fitness plan
Born and raised in Genoa, Italy, Shantih Coro has been passionate about nutrition, sports, and performance from an early age. At just seven years old, he read his first nutrition book, setting the foundation for a lifelong journey in health and athletic excellence. He competed in soccer at the semi-professional level with Genoa FC and professionally in French kickboxing (Savate), becoming a national champion at only 16 years old. His passion for combat sports runs deep in his family—his cousins were national and European champions, and one of them won a gold medal in boxing at the 1956 Olympic Games.
With over 30 years of experience in performance nutrition and professional sports, Shantih holds:
· A Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of North Florida
· A Master of Science in Exercise Science & Sports Nutrition from the University of Tampa
· A specialized Master’s in Sports Nutrition from the University of Real Madrid, focusing on professional soccer
· Postgraduate diplomas in Sports Nutrition from FC Barcelona
· Advanced certifications in elite athlete nutrition from the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) and the Institute of Performance Nutrition (IOPN)
Currently, he is completing the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Diploma in Sports Nutrition and will pursue a Dietetic Internship in 2026 at the Morrison Healthcare Hospital in Naples, FL to become a Sports Dietitian, with plans to complete his studies with a PhD in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sports Nutrition.
As the founder of Fight Fuel Nutritionist, Shantih works part-time remotely with professional and elite athletes across multiple disciplines, including:
· UFC fighters and world championship contenders (e.g., he was the nutritionist for Thiago Silva in his world title fight against Lyoto Machida)
· Abu Dhabi competitors
· Professional European Thai Boxing champions
· Professional volleyball and tennis players
· Olympic-level snowboarders
· High-level professional soccer players, who make up the majority of his clientele, seeking to optimize performance, recovery, and longevity in the sport
He wrote an ebook The Mediterranean Diet for Professional Athletes.
Strength & Conditioning Background
Beyond nutrition, Shantih has extensive experience as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer. He was mentored by Juan Carlos “JC” Santana, a pioneer in functional training,
which allowed him to work with athletes across various sports, executives, busy professionals, post-surgery patients, elderly individuals, and collegiate athletes. His background includes work in strength and conditioning facilities, personal training studios, and rehabilitation settings, always with a focus on high performance and long-term health.
Personal Life & Interests
When he’s not working with athletes, Shantih enjoys lifting weights, cycling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, soccer, and speed & agility training. Like many Italians of his generation, he is passionate about cooking, especially Mediterranean cuisine, and loves spending quality time with his wife, Carolina, and son, Keenai. An eternal student, he constantly seeks new knowledge, enjoys traveling, and finds relaxation by the beach.
